ADCOTE CELEBRATES CENTENARY WITH GRAND ORCHESTRAL CONCERT

Adcote's grand orchestral concert on Saturday 16th June promises to celebrate the school's centenary in spectacular style. This year's event, in the picturesque setting of Adcote's south lawn, will feature The Shrewsbury Symphony Orchestra conducted by John Moore. Well known locally, the orchestra which was originally founded in 1888, has regularly performed in Shrewsbury Abbey and the Alington Hall as well as other venues in and around the town.

A varied programme of fabulous classics and popular movie themes includes Crown Imperial, the Dam Busters and the 1812 Overture as well as the ever-popular Last Night of the Proms' favourites Land of Hope & Glory and the British Sea Songs. The concert's finale will end with a fantastic firework and laser display.

Music lovers of all ages are invited to bring a picnic and enjoy the evening in the beautiful surroundings of Norman Shaw's magnificent manor house, which was originally the home of Rebecca Darby, a relative of Abraham Darby the well-known local industrialist.

Gates open 5pm and an ensemble from the Porthywaen Brass Band will entertain visitors from 6pm to 7.30pm prior to The Shrewsbury Symphony Orchestra's performance from 8pm.
