REGIONAL GYMNASTICS WINS

Gymnasts from Adcote School for Girls are celebrating again after returning with armfuls of medals from the weekend's competition. Organised by the Midlands Independent School Gymnastics Association (MISGA), and held at the Blue Coat School in Edgebaston, the competition involved girls of all ages from independent schools across the region.

The Under 13 Novice team were placed 2nd overall. Individual medal winners Kirsty Davidson (second), Charity Holloway Davies (third) and Lucy Mitford (fifth) were supported by Hayley Rider, Nicola Forrester and Gabrielle Green.

In the Advanced Open team, girls aged 11-18 compete in a competition including voluntary floor exercises and vaults. The Adcote team were placed 3rd , with Charly Hickman taking 5th place individually and Harriet Shakeshaft 6 th . Other team members were Vicky Matthews and Laura Brown. Laura is only 9 years old, but was placed seventh overall, just missing out on the chance of a medal.  

In the  Under 11 Novice competition the Adcote team were placed fourth, with Gabby Brisbourne winning the shield for the individual first place. Other team members were Florence Galliers, Flo Mitford and Harriet Crow.

Adcote Gymnastics Coach Jo Hutchings said, "I'm very proud of our girls, they've worked extremely hard and did brilliantly on the day. In particular Laura Brown did fantastically to be placed 7th when competing in a competition including sixth formers. She will certainly be one to watch in the future."
