ADCOTE GIRLS ARE PLANTING AHEAD FOR TOP TV GARDENER
Adcote School 's entry in the garden design competition at this year's Shrewsbury Flower Show caught the attention of the BBC's Flying Gardener, Chris Beardshaw and following a recent visit to the school the popular TV presenter has asked the girls to join him in creating the main show garden for the Malvern Royal Horticultural Show next Spring.
Teacher Louise Hudson, told us "We were delighted when Chris offered to help us with Adcote's entry at Malvern but never expected that his visit would result in us having the opportunity to actually work with him on such a prestigious project."
"The girls have already started planning the designs and deciding on the plants we'll need. So far our ideas revolve around the Victorian era which ties in with Adcote's centenary in 2007 and the original walled garden here has been the inspiration for our proposed vegetable and flower garden."
"We are also very keen to find some Victorian cookery books, gardening manuals and photographs from the period to ensure our design is as authentic as possible. We would be grateful to hear from anyone who might be able help us with our research. Please contact us here at the school on 01939 260202."
