ADCOTE SCHOOL GARDENERS WIN MEDAL AT MALVERN SHOW
Adcote School gardeners are celebrating again, having just collected a Silver Gilt award for their latest show garden at the prestigious Malvern Spring Garden Show last week. This year the school was sponsored by the West Mercia Police as part of the constabulary's 40th birthday celebrations. The girls created two gardens, the first set in 1967 featuring a rockery, crazy paving and lots of bright annuals. The second garden was a contrasting contemporary design featuring square, strongly textured contemporary planting. The final design was by Adcote teacher Louise Hudson, based on an idea by Adcote sixth former Laura Williams. The two gardens were set in front of a semi detached police house and featured police cars and bikes from their respective eras. The gardens were created to reflect the ways that life and society has changed over the last 40 years.

The girls from Adcote contributed to a host of activities from growing the plants to painting fences, and from building decking to shovelling mounds of gravel. Representatives from West Mercia Police force were also on site to assist with the construction of the ambitious garden. From their first award winning entry to the Shrewsbury Flower Show three years ago, the gardening club at Adcote School has scarcely seen a dull moment, last year winning a Gold Medal and Best in Show at Malvern working with celebrity gardener Chris Beardshaw, and Gold at Shrewsbury . The girls are now preparing their new garden for this year's Shrewsbury Flower Show.
