OBE RECOGNITION FOR ADCOTE'S HEAD
The Governors, staff, parents and pupils were really delighted to hear the excellent news that our Head Teacher, Ryan Jervis, has been awarded the OBE for Services to Education in the Queen's 2008 New Year's Honours List.
Ryan Jervis has been a teacher and Head Teacher for 38 years and his award is principally in recognition of his work at The Lakelands School Sports and Language College in Ellesmere. The school achieved an 'outstanding' in the Ofsted inspection that took place shortly before Ryan joined us here at Adcote School .
During his twelve years at Ellesmere, pupil numbers doubled and it became one of the first schools in the country to be awarded specialist status in three disciplines. The Lakelands was designated a high achieving school by virtue of the consistently high academic achievements of its pupils, and it is regularly among the top ten percent of schools in the country in terms of the academic progress achieved by its pupils.
We are of course delighted that Mr Jervis has joined us here at Adcote and I am sure that with the wonderful support of the Community of Adcote we will continue the excellent progress that has been made at Adcote and go on to equal the academic achievements of the Lakelands School.
The Governors are totally committed to supporting Mr Jervis and his team in any way possible to help make our superb school one of the very best .
Tim Morris
Chairman of Governors
