PUPPETS GALORE AT ADCOTE
Puppets Galore visited Adcote Junior School on Monday to present their story telling of Midsummer Night's Dream, told by Danny Davies. The children were able to operate over twenty giant sized puppets which represented the famous Shakespearean characters. There were also a range of smaller puppets representing the animals and spirits who appear in the Magic Forest of Arden.
"Pupils were able to experience the different types of puppets including rod and hand puppets," said Danny, "and at the same time they learned the details of the story. I find it amazing how children are enthralled by a story written over 400 years ago."
The company, Puppets Galore, are celebrating their twenty fifth year of doing puppet shows, they have toured all over the country and appeared at some of the largest venues such as Earls Court in London.
"We are very excited by the this latest show," said Joan Shirley who has spent the last year researching and making all the many puppets, "and of all the characters in the story, I think that Oberon and Titania are my favourites."
The performance lasted over an hour and the children were able to join in with reading some of the classis excerpts from the play.
