ADCOTE'S CENTENARY SHOW HITS ALL THE RIGHT NOTES
Continuing their year of centenary celebrations Adcote School for Girls recently performed 'A Salute to the Shows'. The three performances, which were of a consistently high standard, delighted audiences each evening. Amongst those who came to see the show were the Mayor of Shrewsbury & Atcham, Councillor Roger Evans accompanied by the Mayoress.
Directed by Julie Blackford with Musical Director Dawn Jaffray the girls sang and danced their way though a varied programme featuring everything from traditional musicals such as "Oliver", "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Annie" to those currently being performed on the West End stage like "The Lion King", "Les Miserables" and "Chicago". The whole school took part with 80 girls performing and the rest involved in helping back stage and front of house.

Head Debbie Hammond said "In total there were selections from fifteen well-known shows performed with enthusiasm and a great deal of talent. Congratulations are deserved by everyone involved in this production both on and off stage for an excellent evening's entertainment and a very fitting musical tribute to mark the school's centenary."
Adcote's Centenary Year celebrations continue with the school's Speech Day on 11th May followed on 12th May by a special Centenary Ball and a Grand Orchestral Concert with the Shrewsbury Symphony Orchestra conducted by John Moore on Saturday 16th June.
