Montessori Nursery

A nursery for boys and girls aged 3 months to 5 years
The early years of a child’s life are especially important for their future development. Parents need to be sure that their children are in safe and capable hands. The Adcote Happy Faces day nursery provides a caring, stimulating and self-contained environment for boys and girls from 3 months to rising 5, within the stunning grounds of Adcote School.
We offer a well-equipped baby room with messy play area and friendly, approachable staff. Our pre-school is a Montessori classroom and we follow the Montessori ethos throughout the day. The children have freedom of choice; the staff follow and guide the children.
Lessons for Life
Specialist staff teach the “Lessons for life”, a unique and highly successful method of sensorial teaching originally developed in Italy by Dr Maria Montessori. Practical activities such as pouring, spooning, cleaning and sorting lead to mathematical, language, geography and cultural work mixed with lots of fun. Children in the Montessori nursery all have the opportunity to learn through play and exploration. Our aim is to assist the development of each child intellectually, socially, emotionally and physically to help them achieve their full potential. We encourage care and consideration for others and strive to foster a love of learning, growth of confidence, independence and competence that will enable each child to move smoothly on to the next stage of their education.
We follow the 'Birth to Three' framework for babies and toddlers, which encourages children to learn through their senses and explore their world, for example by painting, experiencing textures, making music, and playing with water and sand. The pre-school curriculum is designed to incorporate The Foundation Stage and Early Learning Goals within accredited, safe, happy and caring surroundings. The children are actively involved in planning their day as well as learning to respect their environment. The children help to water plants, decorate and look after their surroundings, giving them some responsibility for their environment. The older children have free access to a garden which is safely enclosed, with a new all weather surface allowing outdoor play throughout the year. The children also have the opportunity to enjoy the magnificent grounds surrounding the school.

Working with parents
Happy Faces Day Nursery aims to work in partnership with parents in order to offer a positive first experience in a nurturing learning environment, where children will explore and develop at their own individual pace. We welcome parents' input and value their support.
Our key staff are all qualified with many years of child care and early years teaching experience. The proprietors of Happy Faces Day Nursery will actively be involved in the care and education of the children on a daily basis. All children at the nursery will have their own key worker group. When your child first starts at the nursery we encourage parental input and invite you to stay if you wish during their first sessions.
At Happy Faces Day Nursery we offer a healthy diet for all the children. We serve healthy snacks twice a day which include fresh fruit and vegetable sticks. When the children move up to the pre-school they will be able to join the girls at Adcote in the school dining hall. This allows them the opportunity to choose their own lunch and scrape their own plate - a new experience of independence and social skills, preparing them for school life.
We understand that the day at nursery can be tiring for children of all ages and we therefore offer a sleep time after lunch which allows children to recuperate for the afternoon. For younger children in the baby room time to sleep will be provided to fit in with each baby's own routine.
