Shropshire's Boarding School for Girls
Imagine... ... a school where your child could get all the individual attention she needs ... where girls are stretched and encouraged to do their best – without being pressurised ... where an independent academic curriculum is complemented by a whole range of enjoyable activities designed to stimulate young minds and provide pupils with an excellent all-round education. The reality is Adcote. Set in a magnificent Victorian country house, designed in 1879 by the famous architect Norman Shaw, Adcote is a day and boarding school for girls aged 4-18 years with a Montessori nursery for boys and girls from 0-4 years.

| Premier of new play to be staged at Adcote 'High School Mutiny' is a new all-girl comedy written by local playwrite Joan Shirley and is to get it's first performance in October in the school. The cast of fourteen will come mainly from the A level, the BTEC and the GCSE girls with some parts requiring younger actresses. The play is set in an all girls school and is suitable for an audience of all ages. It tells the story of the chaos caused when a new matron is appointed. |

| Performing Arts BTEC at Adcote In addition to the GCSE and A-level drama courses, Adcote will be one of the few centres where students can do the BTEC National Diploma instead of or alongside the existing drama qualifications. "One of the the advantages of doing the BTEC at Adcote is that we are able to fit the optional subjects to suit the individual interests," says Danny Davies who will be teaching the subject. "For instance one student may want to concentrate on stage and TV acting whilst another might want to specialise on the backstage work and a third might be interested in writing and directing." There is no written examination and the course has a strong emphasis on developing the practical skills. Click here for more details on sixth form entry to Adcote. |
