Forward-looking initiatives under new head Diane Browne aim to put Adcote sixth formers at the head of the queue for employment and enrich university applications.
Adcote Sixth Form is an increasingly exciting place for young women to continue their post 16 education.
The school’s new headmistress Diane Browne is embracing new ideas to expand girls’ horizons and give them valuable life skills.
All girls in Year 12 will study for a qualification from the Chartered Management Institute this year – making Adcote the only school in Shropshire to offer the award.
“From an employer’s point of view, these skills make the girls so much more attractive,” said Rachel Lambert, Managing Director of StudyFlex, an approved centre of the CMI.
For their CMI Level 2 Award in First Line Management, girls Adcote girls will learn ‘soft skills’, such as organisation, communication and teamwork.
Dr Jill Lees, a director for E.ON Renewables, globally, said: “Young women need to understand that confidence plays a big part in why male managers are more likely to get promoted than women. Women need to be bold, put themselves forward for promotion and take more risks. The CMI qualification will help to give young women at Adcote School the skills employers are looking for, ready for their journey into the competitive jobs market.”
Head of Sixth Form Nicola Tribe said “We are excited about the new opportunities for business leadership that will encourage the development of our future innovators in management”.
