Dahl Day

Posted: 4th October 2016

ROALD DAHL would have been delighted with the verve and enthusiasm bubbling over in our Junior School this week.

We celebrated Dahl’s 100th birthday with a day of gobblefunk and whoopsy-splunkers activities with a minimum of whizpopping (look it up!).

Our teachers were all giants – with big ears to match – and all the girls were dressed as Sophie from the BFG.

Our juniors enjoyed a wonderful day working on a bookmark with BFG inspired vocabulary, building characters of their own and writing detailed descriptions of a bully. Mr Bunn invited the girls to guess what they might find in Mr Twit’s beard, which led to some truly disgusting drawing!

Nicky Candler, Head of Junior School said: “Dahl’s inventiveness inspires us to reach for ever new creative ideas to experiment with in the classroom. His spirit and wit was definitely with us on Tuesday.”
