TWO Adcote girls begin their studies at Oxford University this autumn after a sustained focus on STEM subjects resulted in an outstanding crop of A Level results at the school.

Klaudia Chmielowska is thrilled to be taking up her place at the prestigious Christchurch College at Oxford University to study PPE, having achieved 3A, A* grades and Aurora Lu (3A*A) will study Chemistry at Trinity College, Oxford.

New initiatives under head Diane Browne, including Chartered Management Institute qualifications for all Sixth Formers, aim to put Adcote girls at the head of the queue for employment and enrich university applications.

Mrs Browne leads a team of high calibre staff, with a new focus on work-related learning and real commitment to the students in their care.

Her approach is already having an impact. This summer at A Level, Adcote reported a 4% increase in top grades, with 84% A*-C and 100% grades in Physics awarded at A*-B, 85% of grades in Maths were A*-B and 87% of grades in Further Maths, the same.

Adcote students credit a personalised, career-orientated approach to university applications with helping them to secure the right places.

Klaudia said: “I was very fortunate to be in Adcote as I received fantastic academic support which led me to continue my education in one of the best universities on the world.”

Smaller class sizes and individualised learning also gives Adcote girls the very best springboard into secondary education, as the most recent GCSE results demonstrate, with an impressive number of girls scoring the coveted Grade 9 this summer, well in excess of the national averages and an overall 100% pass rate at GCSE.
