Player of the Match – Ella Thomas
The U11s started well, with Olivia Dyer and Ella Thomas driving the ball forcefully down the pitch. A great ball forward found Camren Brooks in the D. She slapped the ball hard – at first it hit the post, teasing her, but then crossed the line to put Adcote in the lead.
Moreton started to pile on the pressure, but our defence (Maddie Stone and Rosie Stevens) were on the alert to break down any attacking movement. Rosina Relf was quick on her feet in goal this week, stopping many shots and preventing Moreton from equalising. Despite the ball being down our defending end most of this quarter, a breakaway by Ella Thomas found Camren Brooks in the D. She turned scored Adcote’s second goal. Lily Hayward also had some lovely shots on goal, putting the Moreton keeper under pressure.
Moreton gained a goal back, but this motivated our girls to extend their lead. Olivia Dyer and Isibeal Francis made some lovely interceptions and always looked ahead to feed the ball to our forward players. Some forceful driving of the ball and some excellent stick skills from Ella Thomas (player of the match) resulted in her eliminating several defenders before defeating the keeper 1v1. The final score was Adcote 3 Moreton 1 – an excellent result for their third match.
