Report by Anwen Pugh

Five girls went to the Midlands ISA Swimming Gala in Walsall last Thursday, with our Year 8 team finishing sixth overall, out of 20 schools.

Individual results included:

  • Jasmine Wenlock – 3rd in her qualifying race and then 10th in the Butterfly final (21.31s)
  • Maisie Allen – 6th in the Breaststroke (22.56s).
  • Amelia Livermore – 4th in the Freestyle (15.93s) – narrowly missing out on 3rd by 0.4s.
  • Phoebe Carter – 8th in the Backstroke (22.62).
  • The Year 8 girls team – 4th in the Freestyle relay with a time of 1.11.54 min.
  • In the Medley relay, the Year 8 team came 5th (1.25.16 min)
  • Glora Chan – 7th in the Year 11-13 Freestyle race.

A special mention should go to Glora Chan for a great result. She was one of the youngest in her age group and was very close to being in the top 5. Glora’s race allowed the school to come 10th overall, despite only having one participant swimming.

We are waiting to hear whether any of our girls have qualified for the Nationals in January.
