Well, what a day of special memories! Talented students, brilliant performances, prize-givings, exciting announcements, an inspiring guest speaker, lots and lots of sunshine and delicious gourmet burgers.
Our Speech Day was a fantastic celebration of all the wonderful things that have happened at Adcote over the past academic year, student achievements and amazing dedicated staff as well as a look ahead to thrilling developments that will make our school an even better place in the new academic year.
And it was humbling to hear the incredible story of our inspirational guest speaker, Di Carrington, one of The Atlantic Ladies who made history when they rowed 3,000 miles across the Atlantic.
Di’s message was that you can achieve anything if you put your mind to it, no matter what your sex or your age. She made the record books as the oldest woman to achieve this exceptional feat.
There was also a special thank you to the Friends of Adcote who do so much to organise special events for us throughout the year, run the second hand uniform shop and raise funds that help us buy extra equipment that really does make a difference – from fitness and outdoor play equipment to music and performance technology.
Headmistress Mrs Browne made some exciting announcements about the future. They included the new Adcote CLEAR learning programme, which will be built into our curriculum and extra-curriculum activities, to develop the guiding core values of confidence, leadership, engagement, achievement and resilience in all our students.
Other announcements included Adcote Prep School as the new name for our Lower School and the creation of a Student Services Department dedicated to providing specialist support, advice and counselling to students.
Other highlights to look forward to include Forest School in the Prep School, an Adcote Life Skills Charter and an Adcote Citizen’s Award.
We would like to thank all the parents who came to our Speech Day to help make it the special day it was. We very much look forward to welcoming you all back in the new academic year.
