Aretha: a six-times published writer

Posted: 4th August 2021

Congratulations to Aretha, in Year 6, who has seen more of her poems and short stories selected for publication by Young Writers. The talented writer has now had six creative pieces of work published by Young Writers after entering national writing competitions.

Earlier this year, Aretha saw her poem ‘My Little Princess’, about a Pomeranian dog that grew wings, published in the poetry book ‘Peculiar Pets’. And, hot of the press, she has had a short story published in the new book ‘A Wander In The Woods’. The story is about a lady who goes for a walk in the woods, finds herself in a creepy graveyard and feels a cold hand on her shoulder. She will also soon have a poem published in the book ‘Pandemic Poetry: Futures of Hope’.

Last year Aretha saw work published in the titles ‘Poetry Monsters’, Write To Unite’ and ‘Brain Swap’. “I do a lot of writing in my spare time. I love it! Last year I also started my own diary for the summer,” said Aretha. She has her eyes on being a psychiatrist when she is older, but she also wants to continue creative writing in her spare time.
