Back in September, we were thrilled to take a group of our students to Adcote Shanghai as part of the brand-new Adcote Global Exchange programme. The warmth, ambition, and generosity we experienced there made the visit truly unforgettable. This week, it was our absolute pleasure to return that hospitality as Adcote School welcomed a wonderful group of students from China to our campus.
What followed was a week full of energy, creativity, laughter, and genuine connection, a celebration of global friendship in action.
Monday: A Warm Welcome and New Beginnings
The week began with a heartfelt welcome from our Head, setting the tone for what would be an inspiring and joyful exchange. Students were introduced to key members of staff before meeting their Year 10 buddies, who played a vital role throughout the week in helping everyone feel at home. Ice-breaker games and team-bonding activities quickly dissolved any nerves, filling the school with laughter and excitement. Students had plenty of informal moments to chat, relax, and build friendships. The day was packed with creativity and discovery, from a lively music workshop and an engaging drama session, to a fascinating biology immersion lesson. As the evening drew in, students enjoyed Just Dance, before our Boarding Prefects led relaxed social activities designed to help everyone get to know one another even better.
Tuesday: Creativity, Confidence, and Fun
Tuesday was all about expression and confidence. A creative writing session encouraged students to share ideas and stories, while circus skills brought out bravery, balance, and plenty of smiles. A vibrant dance workshop kept the momentum going, followed by some well-earned downtime in the Aston Hall common room. Later, a confidence-building Taskmaster challenge saw teams working together in inventive and hilarious ways. The day concluded with a trip bowling with buddies, friendly competition, cheering, and lots of shared celebration made it a firm favourite.
Wednesday: Learning Together
On Wednesday, our visiting students fully immersed themselves inAdcote life by joining their buddies in lessons. Experiencing learning side-by-side gave everyone a deeper understanding of each other’s school culture and academic life. An immersive science and Art lessons sparked curiosity and collaboration, while the afternoon games session provided the perfect balance of teamwork, fun, and relaxation.
Thursday: Culture, Talent, and Celebration
Thursday took us beyond the school gates with a visit into town, where students explored local history and culture, with a little time for shopping too. Back on campus, excitement built as preparations began for the Talent Show. After some well-deserved chill time, the evening Talent Show brought together boarders, buddies, and exchange students in a joyful celebration of creativity. Performances were confident, diverse, and uplifting, a true highlight of the week.
Friday: Looking Ahead and Saying Goodbye
Our final day focused on the future, with an insightful session onUniversity in the UK and what international students need to know. A textile printing workshop allowed students to create meaningful keepsakes to take home, followed by a leadership sessionshowcasing the values that define life at Adcote. The week closed with farewell presentations, gift-giving, and certificates, a moment filled with pride, gratitude, and more than a few emotional goodbyes.
This exchange was a powerful reminder of the importance of global connection, shared learning, and open hearts. We are incredibly proud of all the students involved and deeply grateful for the friendships formed. We look forward to continuing this special partnership and welcoming many more opportunities to learn, grow, and celebrate together.
