Adcote Old Girls 50 year Reunion

Posted: 17th May 2016

Adcote staff and pupils were delighted to welcome back a group of ‘old Adcotians’ last week as part of the School’s Bank Holiday Open Day event.

The group of old girls all left Adcote 50 years ago in 1966 and had come from far and wide, including one from Switzerland, to attend the reunion.  They enjoyed coffee in the Headmistress’s study along with a group of pupils from across the School, two of whom interviewed members of the group for a future press event.  The current girls were regaled by the ladies, most of whom had been boarders, with tales of cold showers, hair washing limited to every fortnight, and other horrifyingly outdated and unsavoury personal hygiene regimes imposed at that time.

The group, including husbands, then toured the School and marvelled at the wonderful array of new buildings including the Science laboratories, Art and Textile Block, new Sports Hall and Aston Hall, the wonderful new boarding house. They also attended the open air performance of a shortened performance of ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ in the fabulous School gardens.

It was a chance to enjoy the very best that Adcote has to offer and to catch up and remember days gone by.

All old Adcotians are encouraged to contact the School and are welcome to attend Speech Day, which this year will be held on Friday 8th July.
