Real World Science – Royal Society Workshop

Posted: 10th October 2016

SIXTH Form chemists benefited from a Spectroscopy workshop delivered by the Royal Society of Chemistry last week.

Girls in Years 12 and 13 enjoyed the intriguingly entitled ‘Spectroscopy in a Suitcase’ workshop, a partnership between the Royal Society and Glyndwr University.

The two-hour workshop, run by university staff and students, gave our chemists an insight into different types of analysis and real life applications. They were introduced to reading spectra, and hands on practice, analysing day to day chemicals.

The workshops aim to encourage school pupils to consider studying chemistry and also highlight the career opportunities available with chemistry qualifications.
