A very early start, but well worth it, as we arrived in time to catch some street theatre at Covent Garden before a light lunch at Jamie Oliver’s restaurant. A short walk away was the Lyceum Theatre where we were treated to one of the great musical shows ever seen!
The costumes, music, set design and effects were breathtaking. Despite it being a Wednesday matinee, the energy on stage was extra-ordinary and all the girls raved about this wonderful production.
The Year 10 students have been working on Mask Making and Mask Performance as part of their BTEC course and this show has helped to understand how masks are used on stage. Year 11 students are working on some Musical Theatre pieces as part of their next assignment and this has fired up their enthusiasm for this task.
Back to the bus for a short sight-seeing tour of Parliament Square and Big Ben, before we pulled up by The London Eye and a stroll along the South Bank with the stunning Houses of Parliament lit up across the river. The packed itinerary also included visits to the costume museum and science museum with a sneaky shop in Harrods before we headed back home on Thursday.
