We never run out of things to shout about at Adcote.
Here is a round-up from just one week of new achievements, in and out of school:
County Champs R Us!
Many of our gymnasts have been competing in the county grades championships over the past few weekends and we are proud to announce we have two county champions: Darcy Fletcher and Emilia Moxley. Olivia Dyer came in Silver medal position and Paige Johnson clinched Bronze.
Darcy followed this up with a superb Silver medal in the west Midlands competition finishing just 0.1 of a mark behind the Champion.
Show Jumping to Victory
Scarlett Gibson, in Year 7, proved she can sail over jumps like a pro, winning first place in the 60cm show jumping category at Bow House in Bishops Castle. She also came third in 70cm and 2nd in the 80cms.
Clarinet – Grade 8 Distinction in just over one year
Aurora Lu, Year 13, achieved Grade 8 Distinction on the clarinet, having only started studying the instrument in Year 12. This is quite a remarkable achievement – well done Aurora!
International Medical Essay Writing Success
One of Adcote’s sixth-formers has gained a ‘highly commended’ in an international essay writing competition run by a publisher of medical textbooks.
The competition, run by the Unofficial Guide to Medicine, was open to all secondary school pupils and medical school students in the UK and overseas.
The judges said Marta Marcheluk gave a ‘captivating’ account of the importance of personalised medicine and the impact it will have on treatment for individual patients and the pharmaceutical industry as a whole.
Marta’s essay will be published on the Guide’s website:
