After months and months of hard work, it was finally SHOWTIME! Legally Blonde-The Musical had finally arrived at Adcote School and the whole cast was counting down the hours until it was curtains up.
The set, painted by Mrs Wrobel and helpers looked stunning, the lighting had been expertly rigged by Mr Phillips, the costumes were lined up, the dogs ready to go and Mr Bunn and Ms Labbe were trying their hardest to keep cool (literally!). Despite the heat, the whole cast was incredibly calm and confident, ready to go and show the world what they could do. And they did!
Thursday’s performance suffered some technical issues due to mobile phone interference but that did not stop a fantastic show. The girls were incredibly professional throughout, helping each other during difficult mic and costume changes, calming each other’s nerves and performing with great skill, charisma and flair.
The standard of performance was so high that we thought sorting our technical difficulties would be the only improvement to be seen on Friday.
Boy (Girl!), were we wrong.
Friday night saw a packed house and the girls wanted more. Each and every single production member upped their game and found a performance level we did not know they had.
The energy was soaring, the atmosphere electrifying and backstage worked like a clockwork. Everybody danced and sang their heart out, connected with the audience and shared their story with extraordinary joy, skill, confidence and absolute commitment. The audience agreed on both nights and rewarded the girls with rapturous applause.
We are not only incredibly proud of the performers but also of all the students who worked so very hard behind the scenes, making sure that those on stage could shine.
Together the whole cast and crew created memories that will last forever and no doubt bring a smile to everybody’s face who was a part of this funny, crazy, hard and unbelievably rewarding journey.
