A Shropshire School, which has just celebrated winning a highly prized national award, has now been shortlisted for its third national accolade of the year.

Adcote School for Girls, at Little Ness, has been shortlisted in The Times Education Supplement (Tes) Independent School Awards for Strategic Education Initiative of the Year.

The award recognises exceptional ideas to improve the quality of teaching or learning. It is the third national award for which the all-girls school has been shortlisted as a finalist this year alone.

The Tes Independent School Awards aim to recognise the most outstanding individuals and institutions that the independent sector has to offer.

The Tes Awards dinner and ceremony will take place on February 7 at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London. It promises to be a spectacular event with more than 400 guests, including government ministers and many of the great and the good of the education sector.

Earlier this month Adcote School, which caters for day and boarding pupils aged 7 to 18, won the Academic Innovation and Achievement Award in the Prep/Junior School category of the Independent Schools Association annual awards.

The school was also shortlisted as a finalist for the Independent School Parent Magazine’s Independent Schools of the Year Awards in October.

Adcote’s inclusion as a finalist in all three awards has been for its unique CLEAR Learning initiative which seeks to develop in all students the core values of ‘Confidence, Leadership, Engagement, Achievement and Resilience’. It is integrated as an ethos in every area of school life and includes a range of challenging adventure and learning experiences.

“Words are beginning to fail me regarding the scale of our success this year,” said Headmistress Diane Browne, who was appointed to the position three years ago.
